What's A Penny To An African?

By Dare Ojuoye 2 weeks ago

Once I find the cowry

I will save a dowry

Frivolously charmed to the glam and ham

Bonded joints, can't stretch a hand

Once saved a penny

Spent it all at the hairy bank

Convulsions of my ill thoughts

The gods must be jealous, these mighty figures

What if I found a penny

Swiftly add it to my rewards

No needy withdraws

A smile from a cushion, when the evening beat slowly meets dawn

Bants at kingly feasts

Brags at family feasts

Scoffs, spits, drew spats

I found a penny and I saved them all
