The World's Not Perfect

By Adesokan Abdulafeez 2 weeks ago

I’m 35

My kids are two and four.

Be working till the weekends making sure we are not poor.

Getting food down on the table thanking God we are alright.

Though life is never easy we’ll be fine, we will survive.

And round town

I'll take the bus across from Lagos to Ikeja.

I’ll be hustling back and forth

Though I never got the money to afford a fancy school.

They will understand their daddy gave them everything he could.

Even when they’re grown.

I’ll love them and they’ll know.

Whenever life gets hard, I’ll say.

The world’s not perfect, but it’s not that bad.

If we got each other, and that’s all we have.

I will be your father, and I’ll hold your hands.

You should know I’ll be there for you.

When the world’s not perfect.

When the world’s not kind.

If we have each other then we’ll all be fine.

I will be your father, and I’ll hold your hands.

You should know I’ll be there for you.

Hmm hmmm hmmmm.

You should know I’ll be there for you.
